Herbal Infused Oils
ALL SALES ARE FINAL ~ WE CANNOT ACCEPT RETURNS DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE PRODUCTS WE OFFER.
All our oils are made with Healing Spirits own hand-picked herbs and solar infused in cold pressed organic extra virgin olive oil.
Herbal infused oils are not essential oils- therefore they do not smell like the flower or plant that they are infused with. It is the medicinal properties of the plant that are coming forth in the oil.

Compound Herbal Tinctures
Herbal Extracts & Tinctures
ALL SALES ARE FINAL ~ WE CANNOT ACCEPT RETURNS DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE PRODUCTS WE OFFER.
We offer a full line of herbal compounds (formulas). These herbs are preblended then tinctured in a formula together. We feel that tincturing the herbs together creates a more cohesive and synergistic formula. The herbs merge their properties in the process of maceration and synthesize one another’s actions. There is a catalytic effect from this merging and blending of energies. The whole becomes greater than the parts.
We also offer a line of single herb tinctures.
Sage Mountain and Healing Spirits tinctures are carefully blended by hand and made in small batches following the time honored method of traditional herbalist. All of our tinctures are made from certified organically grown or ethically wild crafted herbs, over 95% of the herbs used in these formula come from Healing Spirits Herb Farm. Sage Mountain Herb Products are skillfully formulated by ROSEMARY GLADSTAR and are her personal favorites, collected over 30 years as a practicing herbalist. Healing Spirits tinctures are formulated by MATTHIAS AND ANDREA REISEN.
Tinctures are very concentrated and “medicinal” tasting. We suggest mixing them in a small amount of water, tea, or juice to dilute the flavor. Suggested dosages 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon three times daily for chronic problems. 1/4 teaspoon every 1/2 hour or as needed for acute problems.

Herbs
As we all know mother nature can be testy and sometimes downright unkind to the growing patterns of certain plants. Because of this, herbs will have to be ordered by phone or email. Please be patient with us as we keep up with the orders.

How To Store Dry Herbs
1. Store in Airtight Containers. Oxygen will degrade herbs over time, so storing your dried herbs in airtight containers is best. Glass jars are the absolute best. Glass allows the herbs to breath, keeps excess air and moisture out, and maintains the integrity of the herb for the longest period of time. If the lid of the jar you are using has cardboard in the inner lid, remove it, as it invariably contains moisture. Avoid using plastic if possible, as it may leach chemicals into your herbs. I like to store my dried herbs in glass canning jars. I love that they come in all different sizes as some herbs I use a lot of and others I only use sparingly.
2. Keep Out of Direct Sunlight. While those rays of sunlight hitting your jars of herbs might look pretty, they are actually doing damage to the potency of the herbs. Heat and Light will destroy the essence of the herbs very quickly. For this reason, it’s best to store them out of direct sunlight. Keep them in a closed cabinet or make a curtain to cover them if need be.
3. Keep in a Cool and Dry Location. You want your herbs to stay cool and dry for maximum shelf life. Do not store them near a hot stove or in a steamy bathroom. We keep ours in a kitchen cabinet, not over the stove where there is extra heat and moisture, and where they are easy to see and remember to use. Remember the words – “cool, dark and dry.”
4. Be Sure to Label Purchase Date. Keeping track of how old your herbs are is an important habit to develop. Whenever you put a new herb on the shelf, label what it is and when it was harvested or purchased. Make sure to label your herbs with a name and date! I can tell you from experience that Lemon Balm and Mint tend to look a lot alike, as do many other herbs. If you don't want to play the 'taste it and try to guess what it is' game, then make sure you label them! Also, make sure herbs pass the smell test before using. Just open the container and give it a big sniff. If the herbs smell rancid, moldy or just ‘off’ don't use them. If they don't seem to smell at all then crush a leaf between your fingers. This will release the oils in the herbs and should renew the scent. As herbs age they lose their potency and you may need to use a little extra in your recipe to get the same effect or taste. How long will dried herbs last? There is no definitive answer - it depends. Color, they should retain the same color as when it was fresh with very little color variation. Smell, herbs have distinctive odors that are an effective means to determine quality. They should smell strongly, not necessarily “good.” If they have no smell, they should be tossed. Remember Valerian will not smell nice, but as long as it smells like “dirty socks” it is good to use. Taste, herbs should have a distinctive fresh flavor, not necessarily good, depending on the herb, rather on the “potency of the flavor.” Do they taste Fresh? Vital? Strong? Distinctive? Effect, herbs must work effectively. If your herbs are not working, suspect first its quality. The shelf-life of an herb is determined by how long it retains its quality of freshness.
Here is a good list to follow when labeling:
-Name
-Botanical name
-Harvest date (if known)
-Purchase date (if applicable)
-Organic/Wild-crafted.
Having the highest quality herbs is something that all herbalists should strive for, and it isn’t hard if a little care is taken. Labels with names and dates take all the guesswork out of it, and you can get into a system of replenishing when the need arises. Make your herbal apothecary your space, treat it like a special place, and your dried herbs will last for quite a while. If you follow these tips for storing dried herbs, you will have the freshest herbs possible in your herbal apothecary!

Medicinal Mushroom Extract Powder
Mushroom mycelial extract are a highly potent mushroom “superfood” that is stronger than extracts derived from caps alone. Mycelium are the start of the fruiting bodies of the actual mushroom. You can think of mycelium as the “root” from which the body of the mushroom grows, and is generally known to be more potent than the mushroom caps themselves. Our cultivation and extraction process focuses on capturing this highly potent mycelium (although powdered caps will be present in small amounts as well).
Our extracts contain no fillers and are rich in polysaccharides, arabinoxylans, and triterpenes. Beneficial compounds are already made available by the extraction process, so you can simply add the powder to food or drink for an effective medicinal dose. Cooking with mushroom powder will not alter or hinder its potency so it may be added to soups, sauces, yogurt, smoothies, juices, or anything else you are already eating or drinking.
NOTE ON GLUTEN: Mushroom products are naturally gluten-free and are grown in sorghum (a naturally gluten free grain) however our facility also processes wheat and other grains containing gluten. Extracts are processed using gluten-free dedicated equipment with significant attention payed to preventing cross-contamination. However, when growing whole grains such as sorghum in organic fields there is always the chance of “orphan” grains which do contain gluten being harvested as well. Therefore, trace amounts of gluten may be present in the sorghum we use for our extract.
Please note that the overall appearance of mycelium is very consistent from species to species so there are only subtle differences in color and flavor between species.
Recommended dose: Chronic: 1 Tsp. twice daily
Acute: 1 Tbsp. twice daily

Medicinal Mushroom Tonic and Tincture Blends
Medicinal Tonic & Tincture Blends: These 8 oz. packets of carefully formulated dried medicinal mushrooms and herbs allow you to make your own concentrated liquid extract at home. We blend our organic and wildcrafted mushrooms with organic and wildcrafted herbs from our friends at Healing Spirits Herb Farm. You choose which type of liquid extract you would like to make: TONIC (A concentrated water-based extract that can be easily prepared using a slow cooker) or TINCTURE (A concentrated alcohol-based extract that can be easily prepared in canning jars or similar wide mouth glass containers) . Tonic preparation takes 72 hours while tincture preparation takes two weeks, but both yield a potent liquid based extraction.
Tonic Preparation & Storage Instructions: Each 8 oz. package of dried mushrooms will make 1 gallon of tonic. Empty the entire contents of your mushroom packet into your slow cooker along with 1 gallon of water and set it to low. This will typically be about 200 degrees Fahrenheit. If you would like to add some additional flavor to your tonic, simply add organic chicken or beef bones and herbs to make a delicious and healthy soup stock. We generally recommend that you allow your tonic to cook for 72 hours in order to fully extract the medicinal constituents from the mushrooms. The woody medicinal mushrooms, suck as TurkeyTail and Artist Conk, require a long hot bath to break down. You will need to add water during the cooking process to maintain the level at the 1 gallon mark. Once your tonic is done, pour it through cheese cloth or a kitchen strainer into a separate container to remove the large pieces of mushroom mash. Don't forget to squeeze the strained-off mash into your new container to capture all of your tonic that has been absorbed by the mushrooms. Next, pour your tonic into ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen, you can store your cubes in the freezer in a plastic storage bag or container. Melt 1 cube twice daily into hot soup, tea, coffee, or any beverage for an effective medicinal dose.
Tincture Preparation & Storage Instructions: Each 8 oz. package of dried mushrooms will also make 1 gallon of tincture. Add 1 gallon of 80 proof or greater vodka or other clear spirits to a large canning jar or similar wide mouth sealable glass container. Next, add your package of ground mushrooms, seal the container, and give the whole thing a shake. For smaller batches of tincture, simply use less alcohol and divide your mushroom package accordingly. Let your tincture rest at room temperature for two weeks, shaking the jar once a day. Once your tincture is done, pour it through cheese cloth or a kitchen strainer to remove the large pieces of mushroom mash. Don't forget to squeeze the strained off mash into your new container to capture all of your tincture that has been absorbed by the mushrooms. Tincture can be stored at room temperature for immediate use. For long-term storage, put it in the refrigerator or freezer. You can take 1 tsp. twice daily directly or mix it with a little juice to take the edge off.
